This is Nanogy 98 badminton restring review:
For a start, this review of Yonex Nanogy 98 string is by ERR in 2019. NBG98 is a string that can provide good repulsion and long durability. When hit, you can get a “clear” sound. You can hear this “clear” sound when doing smashing and lobbing with Yonex NBG98. At the same time, we have also received feedbacks that the string is much more durable compared with Yonex BG66.
Currently, if you are using BG66 for your leisure game, you will notice that the main setback here is tension loss. Although BG66’s repulsion and hitting sound is great but players are not happy with the tension loss. If this is the case, you can try Nanogy 98 string. Try setting the tension between 24 – 27lbs. You will find the string is about the same medium feeling but the tension loss problem is not so bad. This is the feedback from our members.
Review by Eric:- I used to string Yonex Nanogy 98 at 27lbs for my leisure games. I can hear the “hard clear” sound during smashing. At the same time, I am able to have good return for defensive shots.
Below are Nanogy 98 badminton restring experiment DT tests at 28lbs
First Day 62 – 59DT
Second Day 54 – 56DT
Third Day 51 – 53DT
Firstly, the Nanogy 98 badminton restring gives you a sharp feeling even though the gauge is 0.66mm.
Secondly, it will give you great repulsion for high clear and defensive shots as per manufacturer’s description
Thirdly, most leisure players like NBG98 because the string is able to provide high repulsion and durability.
As for control, you will be able to do so when netting. This is something you will not be able control so well if you are using thinner string like BG Aerobite. The reason is because the string’s repulsion is not consistent.
We do not see many national or international players using thinner strings. The thinnest string they will use is at 0.65mm or BG Aerobite. These players are well trained and are able to have great control during play. Therefore, they just need a string that can control and better durability. Furthermore, if the string’s repulsion is too great, this will cause their netting to be too high or out of court.
So, if you are a good control player, this Yonex NBG98 string will be your ideal choice. Even though the string provides high repulsion, it is still able to provide good control. This is because the gauge at 0.66m is not too thin.
Generally, we will always use pre stretch mode when doing Nanogy98 racket restring. By doing so, we can improve the tension loosing problem. However, there are other ways that we can do to reduce tension loss. For example, how to tighten knots when doing racket restring.
Incidentally, most shops in Singapore use pre-string method to string for their customers. Pre-string method means the racket already has strings and then loaded up onto the stringing machine. This method is not acceptable by International Stringing Standard. Sadly, most people do not know about this because they have no knowledge regards restring.
People like to do pre-string method because it is faster and saves time for the shop owner. This method is never acceptable by ERR. This is because it will critically damage the durability of the string. Furthermore, the string’s tension will not be accurate.
In summary, many badminton players has commented that they feel that the string’s repulsion and durability is good. They even added that they are even better than BG66 Ultimax.
Lastly, many members like our Nanogy 98 badminton restring method. This is because we follow according to International Standard. Furthermore, all our tools that we are using are from Yonex, Japan.
Sharp feeling with 0.66mm gauge. Great repulsion for high clear and defensive shots.
